Mount Rushmore Half Marathon
The Mount Rushmore Half Marathon is a 13.1 miles point to point race in the Black Hills of South Dakota on September 12, 2026. The course begins near Ghost Canyon Getaway on a well packed dirt road for about three miles before turning to pavement, and it finishes at the Borglum Story Museum in Keystone. The route gains approximately 1,850 ft of elevation and features sustained uphill sections followed by a final downhill approach to the finish.
Runners encounter five aid stations and a cup free hydration system. Participants may add a lightweight reusable cup during registration or use a personal hydration system for on course refills of water and electrolytes. Parking is available at both the start and finish; shuttles return runners who parked at the start back to their cars.
Race weekend includes an expo and bib pickup at the Baymont by Wyndham in Keystone on the Friday before the event. Bib pickup options include the expo, race morning pickup, or shipped delivery to a home address for a fee when available up to two months before the race. Live results are posted online and finisher photos are provided by FinisherPix after the event.
Awards include place medals for top finishers overall by gender categories and age group place medals for top five in each listed age bracket. All finishers receive a finisher medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
