Wildhorse Traverse 50K

The Wildhorse Traverse is a point-to-point trail race of 50 km through the Okanagan region of British Columbia, starting at Bertram Creek Regional Park and finishing in Naramata (Manitou Park). The course follows technical single-track, historic railway sections and remote canyons, and includes about 1,896 m of ascent and about 1,903 m of descent.

The race uses four on-course cut-offs and allows a total of 10 hours to complete the course; runners who miss published cut-offs will be disqualified. Organisers require mandatory gear for safety, including a lightweight weather jacket and an emergency blanket, and specify minimum starting fuel and hydration (minimum two litres of fluid and at least 400 calories). Random gear checks and checkpoint checks occur on course.

There are three aid stations with food and drink supplies: Aid 1 is remote and accessed by boat so supplies are limited; Aid 2 is accessible from Naramata and allows limited crew access and one drop bag per runner; Aid 3 is at Smethurst Parking along the KVR. Drop bags must fit in a shoe bag, be labelled, and are dropped off at the start for delivery to the finish later in the day.

A shuttle service from Naramata to the start is available for a fee and requires advance signup; there is no shuttle back to Kelowna after the race. All participants must complete the event waiver to be eligible to race.

Post-race provisions for participants include a provided lunch with standard and vegan/gluten-free options, chip timing, custom finishers medals, a cotton t-shirt (opt-out available), and awards for top finishers. The event follows cup-less and other sustainability practices such as composting and recycling at aid stations and the finish area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
