Wildhorse Traverse 50K : course overview
Wildhorse Traverse is a 50 km point to point trail race that runs from Bertram Creek Regional Park to Naramata in British Columbia's Okanagan region. The course follows technical single‑track, historic rail sections and remote canyons, with a total ascent of 1,896 metres and a similar total descent.
The event takes place on the traditional and unceded territory of the Okanagan Syilx people, a fact acknowledged by the organizers. The route includes three aid stations referred to as Aid 1, Aid 2 and Aid 3. Aid 1 is reachable only by boat and carries limited supplies; Aid 2 allows crew access and drop bags; Aid 3 is located at Smethurst Parking along the KVR.
All participants must complete the required waiver before participating; failure to do so will prevent participation and a refund will be issued. Runners must be self-sufficient and carry mandatory gear at the start, including a lightweight jacket, emergency blanket, a minimum of 1.5 litres of fluid capacity and at least 400 calories of food. Random gear checks occur at the start and on course. The race has four cut‑off checkpoints and allows up to 10 hours to complete the full distance. Shuttle options are provided to reach the start from Naramata; there is no shuttle back to Kelowna after the race.
The finish is at Manitou Park where a post race meal is provided for participants. Food and beverage vendors and event merchandise are available at the finish, and the event applies recycling and composting practices at aid stations and the start/finish area.
