Wilderness Run
The Wilderness Run takes place at Shoal Creek Living History Museum in Hodge Park on Nov. 14, 2026. The course is well marked and leads participants through Shoal Creek Historical Village, across fields, along wooded paths, and over rolling hills. The event is described as enjoyable and challenging and has run since 2002.

- 2 miles
- 5 miles (route changed for this year)
Walkers and hikers are welcome. After finishing, participants may fill a Wilderness Run mug with warm soup provided by volunteers and spend time around campfires. The event is organized to bring awareness to the Shoal Creek Living History Museum and its programs.
Practical details from the organizer include an age group of 6 and up and registration deadlines and fees. Online registration closes Nov. 6, 2026. Participants who register prior to Oct. 16, 2026 are guaranteed a mug and a long sleeve T-shirt. Fee schedule listed by the organizer:
- Starting 10/21: $35 for the 5 mile option and $30 for the 2 mile option
- Starting 11/4: $40 for the 5 mile option and $35 for the 2 mile option
- Race day in-person registration: $45 for the 5 mile option and $40 for the 2 mile option
Shoal Creek Living History Museum covers about 80 acres and contains 19th century buildings dating from 1807 to 1885; museum volunteers portray 19th century lifestyles during the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
