Wild West Relay
The Wild West Relay is a point to point running relay across Colorado held August 6 to August 7, 2027. The course covers 200 miles and is divided into 36 legs, starting in Fort Collins and finishing in Steamboat Springs. The route travels from the foothills of Fort Collins into the Rocky Mountains and crosses two mountain passes.
Teams may be formed in several sizes. Typical arrangements include twelve-runner teams that use two vehicles and ultra teams that use six runners and one vehicle, and other team sizes are allowed, including solo entries that are not officially sanctioned. Event categories listed include a 12 person team, Ultra team, Super Ultra team, and High School team.
This is a rules of the road road race. Public roads remain open to traffic and traffic will not be stopped for runners. Runners must stop and follow guidance from volunteers when required. Teams may adjust exchange timing if at risk of missing exchange cutoffs by starting a subsequent runner early, provided the adjustment is logged, communicated to exchange volunteers, and the exchange open and close rules are respected.
Gear check and team packet pickup are available in Fort Collins on the Thursday before the race during the afternoon and evening, and on race morning at designated check in. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
