Wild West Relay
The Wild West Relay is an overnight team road relay in Colorado that runs between Fort Collins and Steamboat Springs. The course covers 200 miles divided into 36 legs and crosses two mountain passes, beginning in the foothills of Fort Collins and finishing in Steamboat Springs.
Teams can register in several categories, including full 12 person teams, Ultra teams, Super Ultra teams, and a High School team division. Team sizes and support vary; many full teams use two vehicles while some smaller teams use one vehicle. Solo unsanctioned entries are mentioned as an option in the event information.
Registration is managed by a Team Captain who submits the team payment, creates a team name and password, and selects a volunteer option. Teammates join the team using that name and password and do not pay an additional registration fee when they join. Each team chooses between supplying course volunteers or making a tax deductible donation to Windsor Gives to support volunteer staffing. The volunteer requirement differs by team category, with full teams expected to supply two volunteers and some smaller teams expected to supply one volunteer.
