Wild West Relay

The Wild West Relay is a point to point road relay in Colorado held July 31 to August 1, 2026. The course covers 200 miles over 36 legs, beginning in the Fort Collins area and finishing in Steamboat Springs. The route passes through foothills and the Rocky Mountains and crosses two mountain passes.

Teams may be formed in several formats. Typical arrangements include twelve-runner teams with two support vehicles and Ultra teams with six runners and one vehicle. The event also lists super ultra and high school team categories and allows other team sizes, including solo unsanctioned entries. Team Captains register first and can set up a team before all members are confirmed.

Logistics include mandatory gear check and packet pickup in Fort Collins on the day before the race and on race morning one hour before a team start time. Each team carries a GPS tracker and event information is available through an athlete app. The point to point format depends on a large volunteer crew and teams can provide volunteers or pay a volunteer fee that is distributed to supporting nonprofit groups.
