Wild & Mild Night Run
The Wild & Mild Night Run takes place in South Brent, featuring trail and open moorland terrain. The event offers two distinct distances through the local landscape, starting from the South Brent Old School Community Centre. The race includes "King and Queen of the Night" runners who serve as beacons for participants, with prizes available for those who finish before them.
Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 9 miles: Covers river paths, tarmac sections, and open moorland on Dartmoor, passing Avon Dam and Brent Hill.
- 5 miles: Follows tarmac and paths toward Shipley Bridge before returning to the headquarters via Didworthy.
The 9 mile course begins with a three-mile uphill section following the river to Shipley Bridge. After a tarmac stretch, the route enters Dartmoor, heading toward the Avon Dam and crossing below the Abbot’s Way. It continues south near the head of the Harbourne and exits the moor near Dockwell Farm, concluding with a trek through the mud of Brent Hill and Lydia Bridge.
The 5 mile route follows the larger course along the naptha lines. After reaching Shipley Bridge, these runners diverge from the longer route to take a hilly cross-terrain path. Both courses are marked, but the use of navigation devices with OS maps is also recommended.
Post-race facilities at the Old School Community Centre include live music and a shared sauna. Catering is provided on-site, including warm food, muffins, tea, and coffee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
