Wild in the Woods - event overview
Wild in the Woods is a trail race held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Broemmelsiek Park in Defiance, MO. The event is listed as the 5th annual running of the race. The course is offered in two distances:
- 5 Mile - one loop
- 10 Mile - two loops
Post-race offerings at the Hilltop Shelter include a fire pit, snacks, live music, and a complimentary beer for participants aged 21 and over. All entrants will receive a custom giveaway; details are to be announced.
Series and logistics
Wild in the Woods is the second race in the Big River Trail Series. The series tallies points for runners who participate in three of six events; eligible events include the Wild in the Woods 5 Mile or 10 Mile, the Skippo 10k, the Skippo Half Marathon or 30k, and the Castlewood Cup 15k.
Regular entry fees are listed as $39 for the 5 Mile and $49 for the 10 Mile. A 10% per-event discount is available when registering for the full Trail Series by 11/2/2025. Packet pickup locations include Big River Running (store address on file) and race-day pickup at the Hilltop Shelter, Broemmelsiek Park, 1795 Hwy DD, Defiance, MO 63341.
