Wight Riot
Wight Riot is a mixed-terrain running event on the coastal path at Milford on Sea, with views of the Isle of Wight, The Needles and Sturt Pond Nature Reserve. The course is an out-and-back route along the coast and is organised so participants can choose the distance they run.
Distances available include:
- 5K
- 5.3 km (3.28 miles) per lap
- Options up to ultra-marathon
Race numbers are collected on the day at race registration. An aid station (Run DMC) is positioned at the start/finish of each lap offering a variety of sweet and savoury snacks and drinks. The event uses a cupless policy, so participants should bring their own cup. Bag drop is available at the race headquarters (pink gazebo), and public toilets are available at the start/finish and on the route. Each participant receives a medal and a provided soundtrack will accompany the event.
The event is licensed by the TRA and will be run under UKA rules; distance restrictions apply to participants aged 20 or under. Final instructions are sent by email before the event. Local facilities near the venue include a play park, cafés and eateries, the beach at Milford-on-Sea, Sturt Pond bird hide, Hurst Castle and nearby pubs for post-run refreshments.
