Wiedemann Mile

The Wiedemann Mile is held at Wiedemann's Brewery Taproom and Pub in Saint Bernard, Ohio. The one mile course runs over the bed of the historic Miami and Erie Canal and begins and ends in the Bohemian Beer Garden where the original canal wall still stands. The course is a rolling cross country route that is mostly flat with a couple of short but challenging hills near the midpoint. Runners are advised to watch for natural obstructions, debris, pooled water, and uneven footing along the course. The event proceeds in all weather.
Distances offered include:
- 1 mile
- 100 yards for children
- 634 yards 0.36 mile relay legs
Event options and rules noted by the organizer include a kids run for ages eight and under with a parent signed waiver required, a four person beer relay in which each participant consumes a beer during different parts of each 0.36 mile leg, and an option to enter both the mile and the relay together. Relay team members must be age 21 or over on race day. Entry fees listed by the organizer include a $25 fee for the one mile entry which includes a drink and a Wiedewurst on a bun, a $10 per person relay fee with the same included items, and a free kids run entry. Top male and female finishers receive brass Wiedemann Good Luck beer tokens and other merchandise. Proceeds benefit the St. Bernard Ludlow Grove Historical Society.
