Wiedemann Mile
The Wiedemann Mile is a running event held in downtown Saint Bernard at Wiedemann's Brewery, Taproom and Pub. The race takes place on a rolling cross-country course located over the historic bed of the Miami and Erie Canal. While the route is mostly flat, it features several hills near the midpoint. Runners navigate a course that includes natural terrain where they may encounter uneven footing, debris, or pooled water.
The event starts and finishes in the Bohemian Beer Garden, near an original 100-year-old canal wall. Participants can choose from several different distances and categories:
- 1 Mile individual race over the historic canal bed.
- 100 Yards Kids Run for children aged 8 and under.
- 634 Yards Beer Relay for four-person teams over 21.
The Beer Relay requires each participant to consume beverages at specific intervals during their leg of the race. Teams compete against each other for the best overall time.
Registration fees for certain events include a drink and a Wiedewurst on a bun. Proceeds from the event are directed to the Saint Bernard-Ludlow Grove Historical Society. The race is held rain or shine, and prizes are awarded to top finishers in the form of beer tokens and merchandise. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
