Wicked Rogaines Winter Series (WWNR2026)
Wicked Rogaines Winter Series runs across six Wednesday evening events in Christchurch between 17 June and 19 August 2026. Each week a new course is released; the same course is then available as a virtual event from Thursday afternoon for one week, with a printable map option.
The series offers two participation formats. The Wednesday Wicked Rogaines use physical Wicked Rogaines electronic controls, yield official WR scores, and award points valid for the Wicked League. The Virtual Rogaines use the MapRun phone app with no physical controls; these generate unofficial results and do not score for the Wicked League. Virtual entries can be completed individually or in teams on a chosen day during the event week.
Event formats include 2-hour rogaines, a 1-hour option, and a Wicked Kids Fun Event aimed at young children under 7 years, who must be accompanied by an adult. Rogaining is run on foot in teams of two to five, or solo for some shorter events. Checkpoints have different point values based on access difficulty, so teams select routes to match their strategy. Terrain varies from open farmland to hilly forest, and navigation is by map and compass.
Organisers recommend carrying safety gear such as a mobile phone with full battery, warm clothing, a rain jacket, whistle, and headlamp. MapRun records GPS-based punches, uploads results automatically, and allows route review. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
