McLeans Forest Run - Winter Edition
The McLeans Forest Run - Winter Edition is an inaugural event set in McLeans Forest within the Waimakariri River Regional Park at McLeans Island, Christchurch, New Zealand. It is scheduled for July 5, 2026 and presents three organised distance options.

The Half Marathon is a purpose-built single-loop route with no backtracking. It runs through forest trails, open parkland, along stopbanks and purpose built connections, and includes sections not normally accessible on foot. The course is marshalled and supported throughout.
The 10 km course follows a single loop mainly on established forest trails and includes a grassed section that changes the surface briefly before returning to trails. The 5 km route is described as an introduction to McLeans Forest, combining established trails with a section of mountain bike only track through Gordon Reid Forest that is normally closed to runners; the 5 km course loops back to the start and is waymarked.
Course surfaces include established walking tracks, gravel park tracks and mixed use walking and cycling tracks, with grassed sections on some routes. Event parking is organised with staff directing vehicles, a larger area for competitors and spectators, and a smaller area for marshals and volunteers.
