Wicked 10K Weekend : Virginia Beach
The Wicked 10K Weekend is a Halloween-themed race weekend presented by Sentara on the Virginia Beach oceanfront. The main event is a 10K (6.2 miles) course that begins on 19th Street by the Virginia Beach Convention Center and finishes at 20th Street on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. The course is described as flat and fast and is certified as VA22028RT. A posted course time limit is two hours, equal to a 20:00 minute per mile pace.
Course support includes three hydration and water stops located at approximately miles 2, 4 and 5, and port-a-potties at the start/finish and adjacent to every water stop. All 10K participants receive a finisher medal and a technical race shirt. The post-race celebration includes beer, finisher food, and entertainment; these are included with registration.
The weekend features additional distances and challenges, including a 5K and the Monster Mile. Extra awards are available through the Pumpkin Smash Challenge for participants who run the Monster Mile on the preceding Friday and register for the challenge. Event notes: children under age 10 are recommended to run with a registered parent on course, and dogs are not permitted on the race course.
