Event Overview
The Whitney Lab 5K is scheduled for Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the River to Sea Preserve Trails in St. Augustine, Florida. The event supports the UF Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience, with all proceeds going to the laboratory's gift fund for community lectures, public education, and student experiences.
Course and Format
The in-person 5K course consists of three loops on the Matanzas Hammock Loop and South Hammock Loop, entirely on trails. A virtual 5K option allows participants to complete the distance from any location.
Registration and Fees
Registration opens on February 20, 2026. In-person participation is limited to 200 runners. Entry fees increase over time: $35 from February 20 to March 10, $40 from March 11 to 31, and $45 from April 1 to 17. Day-of-race registration is available for $45 during packet pick-up hours. The virtual option costs $45.
Inclusions and Awards
All participants, both in-person and virtual, receive a shirt and medal. Awards are given to the top overall male and female finishers, and to the top three in each age group, ranging from 10 and under to 70 and above.
Additional Information
A free kids fun run is held after the 5K. Free parking is available at the River to Sea Preserve and nearby locations, with carpooling encouraged. Packet pick-up occurs on race day from 6:30 to 7:30 AM at the River to Sea Preserve. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
