Event overview
The White Pine Thaw Marathon Relay takes place on Sunday, March 22, 2026, in Comstock Park, Michigan. The event offers two options: a team relay and a solo full marathon. Both follow a 26.2-mile course along the southernmost section of the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail.
- Relay - 26.2 miles total (six legs)
- Solo Full Marathon - 26.2 miles (unsupported course)
Course and logistics
The course runs on the White Pine Trail and crosses public roads; the course is not closed and participants are responsible for their own safety when crossing. The trail is routinely plowed by Friends of The White Pine Trail. There are parking areas and bathrooms roughly every four miles. Suggested exchange zones and aid locations include Rogue River Park (Belmont), Rockford Shoe Depot (Rockford), and the Russell Road staging area. Water and bathroom facilities are provided at those exchange zones.
Teams, entry and services
Teams are formed with a Captain who registers first and names the team; additional members register and join that team. There is no limit on team size, but all 26.2 miles must be covered; teams manage their own logistics and transportation. Registration fees listed are $60 for the relay and $80 for the solo full marathon, with prices increasing after March 1, 2026. Packet pickup is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, at Third Nature Brewing from 1:00 to 4:00pm, with limited pickup available on race day. All participants receive a finisher shirt, custom medal, a meal and drink ticket redeemable at Vitale’s after the event, free photos by StellaFly, and entry to the raffle.
