White Peak Festival of Running: Down in a Shot 10k
The Down in a Shot 10k is one of three races in the White Peak Festival of Running, alongside the Ian Milne White Peak Marathon and the Swift Half Marathon. The 10k follows the later stages of the marathon route from Harborough Rocks and finishes at Cromford Wharf.
The course is off-road, running on compacted limestone and cinder surfaces on former railway tracks. Road running shoes are recommended. The half and 10k routes undulate along the dales before descending in stages to High Peak Junction and then along the canal towpath into the finish at Cromford Wharf. The half and 10k routes have a total descent of about 800 feet and do not include steep uphill stretches.

- registration at the canalside at Cromford Wharf, where runners receive their bib numbers and any ordered T shirts
- free parking directed to Cromford Meadows Car Park with marshal instructions
- coaches to transport runners to their start points included in the entry
- toilets at race HQ and portable toilets at each start
- water stations on course and water plus a packet of biscuits at the finish
- medals for all finishers with ribbons indicating distance and a race branded gift A medical response team with ambulance cover is available and cut off procedures are enforced on the marathon course.
