Course
The White Deer Triathlon consists of three segments. The 3 km paddling leg takes place on Boulder Lake, where participants may use a canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard. A 45-minute time penalty applies for kayaks with pedals. The 22 km bike course uses paved rustic roads around Boulder Junction. The final 6 km run follows county roads and includes a forest trail section, finishing at the Boulder Junction Community Center.
Event Formats and Awards
Participants can enter as an individual or as part of a three-person relay team. For individual entrants, awards are given to the top three males and top three females in each age category from 15-19 up to 70+. The top overall male and female also receive plaques. The winning relay team members each get a plaque. Every athlete who finishes receives a participation medal.
Logistics and Rules
A mandatory check-in and welcome dinner takes place the evening before the race. On race morning, gear drop-off is required at two transition areas: the Boulder Lake Boat Landing and Camp Manito-wish YMCA. A time limit is enforced, and participants must follow all safety rules. A personal flotation device (PFD) is mandatory for the entire paddle leg, and a helmet is required for the entire bike leg. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
