Whiskers & Wags Run 5k : May 9

The Whiskers & Wags Run is a 5k trail race held at Chet Hobert Park in Berryville. The course is an out-and-back route along a mostly gravel dirt path with no major elevation changes. A 10k option follows the same out-and-back twice. Points from this event count toward the Year-Long 5k and Back of the Pack Series and the Spring Series; the Back of the Pack time is listed as 11:00.

A virtual race option is available for those who cannot attend in person. The event is chip timed and participants receive a finisher medal and a technical Drifit event shirt. T-shirt sizes are guaranteed for runners registered before April 29; extra shirts will be ordered for later registrants on a first-come first-served basis.

Registration fee for the 5k is $30 through April 30 and $35 thereafter. Race morning prices increase by $5 for each distance. Packet pickup is available at the event and race day registration will be offered; on-site registration typically requires additional time for check-in.

One water station is located on the 5k course at approximately mile 1.55. Restrooms are available in the building near the start and finish area. Live results will be posted during the race and final results with series points are published the Monday following the event. Staff photos will be posted on the event social media pages by the Tuesday after the race.

The event supports Veterinary Community Outreach, a nonprofit that provides low-cost and no-cost preventative veterinary services to low income families in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia and surrounding areas. The organizer follows an all-weather policy but may delay or cancel the event for severe conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
