Whine Up the Hill
Whine Up the Hill is a running and walking event held at The Maple Retreat in Park City, Kentucky. The course is situated near Mammoth Cave National Park and features a steep incline followed by a route through a local vineyard. The primary distance for adults is 2.24 miles, which is slightly shorter than a traditional 5K.
Participants can choose from three distinct event categories:
- Whine up the Hill: A timed, competitive 2.24 mile run or walk involving a hill climb and vineyard views.
- Sip n Stroll: A non-competitive 2.24 mile walk on the same course, designed for a more relaxed pace.
- Kid's Run: A dash for participants aged 6-12 years old on a shorter looping course around the hilltop.
The event includes tasting stations along the course where local wineries provide samples. Participants over the age of 21 will receive a commemorative wine glass, and a photo ID is required for all participants at packet pickup. Registrants for the adult events receive long-sleeve shirts, while participants in the children's run receive a shirt and a finisher's medal.
Awards for the competitive category are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers. Additionally, awards are given to division winners in ten-year age increments. Proceeds from the event are designated to benefit a nonprofit organization in the Southern Kentucky region. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
