P.A.C.E. Races for Youth Athletic Scholarships
The third annual P.A.C.E. (Parks and Community Events) races take place in Smiths Grove and Oakland, Kentucky. Hosted by Warren County Parks and Recreation, this event connects two communities through a rural route in Warren County. The proceeds from the event support the Friends of Warren County Parks and Recreation, a non-profit organization that provides athletic scholarship opportunities for children.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 26.2 Miles (Marathon)
- 13.1 Miles (Half Marathon)
- 5K (Puppy PACE 5K)
The marathon and half marathon courses begin and end at Ed Spear Park. The route consists of approximately 90% paved surfaces and 10% gravel, featuring moderate hills and several railroad crossings. Runners in these distances receive a race shirt and a finisher medal specific to the Smiths Grove and Oakland communities. Awards are provided based on age and gender categories.
The Puppy PACE 5K is a family and dog-friendly event held in partnership with the Warren County Public Library. This race is open to runners, walkers, and dogs. Participants receive a t-shirt, while puppies receive bandanas. Trophies are awarded to the top three finishers in each age and gender group. Packet pick-up is located at Ed Spear Park.
