Event

The P.A.C.E. Races for Youth Athletic Scholarships take place Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Smiths Grove, KY (226 Sunset St). The event includes the following distances:

  • Marathon
  • Half Marathon
  • Puppy PACE 5K (hosted by Warren County Public Library in partnership with Warren County Parks & Recreation)

PACE stands for Parks and Community Events. This is the 3rd annual running of the P.A.C.E. Marathon and Half Marathon and the Puppy PACE 5K.

Course and logistics

Both the marathon and half marathon begin and end at Ed Spear Park. The route features the communities of Smiths Grove and Oakland and is described as rural. Over 90% of the route is paved and about 10% is gravel. The course includes moderate hills and several railroad crossings that may cause stops. The Puppy PACE 5K course is dog-friendly and accessible.

Early packet pick-up for the marathon and half marathon is available Friday, May 8 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at Ed Spear Park. If not picked up Friday, participants are asked to check in on Saturday before the event.

Entry, awards, and fees

Current entry fees listed are $75 for the marathon, $50 for the half marathon, and $15 for the 5K. Fees increase after March 2, 2026. 5K registration ends May 8, 2026 at 11:59 pm. Marathon and half marathon participants receive a shirt; marathon and half marathon finishers receive a unique medal. All 5K participants receive a t-shirt and medal; dog finishers receive a bandana. Awards are distributed by age and gender categories.

Beneficiary

Proceeds support Friends of Warren County Parks and Recreation, a 501(c)(3) that provides scholarship opportunities to help children participate in sports programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
