About the race
The Wheeling Turkey Trot is a community running event held at the Alma Grace McDonough Center on the Wheeling University campus in Wheeling, WV. The program includes an in-person 5K run and walk, a virtual 5K option called Pardoned Turkey, and a Children's Fun Run of one mile. Registration details differ by event. Registration opens on September 8.
Fees are shown per event: the in-person 5K and the virtual 5K each have a $25 registration fee, and the Children's Fun Run has a $15 fee. Long sleeve t-shirts are guaranteed for 5K participants who register by November 15. Virtual participants who register receive an event T-shirt; shirts are available at packet pick-up, on race day at the McDonough Center, or at the Parks and Recreation office starting December 1. Packet pick-up is available at the Parks and Recreation Office on November 24 and November 25, and day-of packet pick-up and registration are available at the McDonough Center.
An awards ceremony is held inside the McDonough Center immediately after the race. The 5K registration includes automatic entry into a grand prize drawing and five complimentary raffle tickets per participant. Additional raffle tickets are available for purchase at published prices: 1 ticket $1, 6 tickets $5, 15 tickets $10, 35 tickets $20. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
