Helping Heroes Veterans Day 10K
Helping Heroes Veterans Day is a point-to-point road event over 10 km in Wheeling, West Virginia, organized by Helping Heroes. The course has rolling hills and runs from the area in front of Bridge Street Middle School through National Road, Elm Grove, Dimmydale, and Woodsdale, continuing up to the Mount Wood Overlook before descending on Stone Boulevard into Chapline Street and finishing on 16th Street at the Helping Heroes headquarters.
Packet pickup and day-of registration take place at the Bridge Street Middle School parking lot; pre-race packet pickup is available Thursday November 19 and Friday November 20 from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm at Centre Wheeling Fellowship Church, 41 22nd St (use the blue door on 22nd Street). Buses run from downtown to the start, departing from 44 16th Street; participants may also park at Bridge Street Middle, though buses will not return there after the event. Suggested downtown parking includes street parking near 14th Street, Northern Community College lots, and the Wesbanco Arena Parking Garage.
Awards are given to top overall finishers and to age group place finishers for both running and walking categories. All finishers receive a finisher challenge coin; the first 200 registrants will receive a race shirt. Entry fees are listed at $30 to $40 and registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable.
