Helping Heroes Veterans Day 10K
The Helping Heroes Veterans Day 10K is a point-to-point road race in Wheeling that supports local veterans. The course covers 10 km and includes rolling hills. The route begins in front of Bridge Street Middle School, continues onto National Road through Elm Grove, Dimmydale, and Woodsdale, climbs to the Mount Wood Overlook, then descends on Stone Boulevard into Chapline Street and finishes on 16th Street in front of Helping Heroes headquarters at 44 16th Street.
Packet pickup and day-of registration take place at the Bridge Street Middle School parking lot, with additional pre-race packet pickup offered at Centre Wheeling Fellowship Church (41 22nd Street) on the two days before the event. Suggested parking options are downtown street parking near 14th Street, Northern Community College lots, and the Wesbanco Arena parking garage. Buses run from downtown to the start line, leaving from 44 16th Street; participants may also park at Bridge Street Middle School but bus service will not return there after the event.
Awards include top three overall male and female runners, top three male and female walkers, top three in each age group for run and walk categories, a finisher challenge coin for all participants, and a race shirt for the first 200 registrants.
