Helping Heroes Veterans Day 10K, Wheeling WV
Helping Heroes revived a Wheeling running event on November 21 with a mission of supporting local veterans. The event is a point to point road 10 km that follows a route from Bridge Street Middle School to Helping Heroes headquarters at 44 16th Street in Wheeling, WV 26003.
The course runs along National Road through Elm Grove, Dimmydale and Woodsdale, climbs to the Mount Wood Overlook, then continues downhill on Stone Boulevard into Chapline Street and finishes with a turn onto 16th Street in front of Helping Heroes' new headquarters. Packet pickup and day-of registration take place at the Bridge Street Middle School parking lot. Pre-race packet pickup is scheduled for November 19 and November 20 at Centre Wheeling Fellowship Church (use the blue door on 22nd Street), 41 22nd St, Wheeling, WV 26003.
Shuttle buses will transport participants from downtown to the start line, departing from 44 16th Street. Suggested parking areas include downtown street parking around 14th Street, Northern Community College lots and the WesBanco Arena parking garage; parking is also available at Bridge Street Middle School, though no post-event bus service will run to that location.
Entry fees are listed at USD 30 to USD 40. Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. Awards include top three overall male and female runners, top three male and female walkers, top three in each age group for run and walk, a finisher challenge coin for all participants, and race shirts for the first 200 registrants.
