Event information
The Helping Heroes Veterans Day 10K takes place on Saturday, November 15, 2025, in Wheeling, WV (44 16th St, 26003). The event includes the following distances/events:
- 10K Run
- 10K Walk
- 10K Veterans/Active Military (no entry fee)
General entry fee for the Run and Walk is $30. Entry fees increase after October 15, 2025. The race lists a donation goal of $25,000 to support Helping Heroes, Inc., a 501(c)(3) that assists homeless veterans and veterans at risk of homelessness.
Course and logistics
The race is a point-to-point road 10k with rolling hills. The course starts in front of Bridge Street Middle School, follows National Road through Elm Grove, Dimmydale, and Woodsdale, climbs to the Mount Wood Overlook, then descends on Stone Blvd into Chapline Street and finishes on 16th Street in front of Helping Heroes headquarters. There is a cut off time of 2.5 hours because of traffic restrictions.
Packet pickup and day-of registration are at the Bridge Street Middle School parking lot. Suggested parking is downtown (around 14th Street), Northern Community College lots, or Wesbanco Arena Parking Garage. Buses will transport participants from downtown to the start. An award ceremony will take place near the finish at 44 16th Street Park in front of Northern’s B&O building.
Helping Heroes describes planned facility work: a $6 million renovation of the Manufacturer’s Light and Heat Building to add a resource center and 15 transitional living apartments. The organization lists services such as emergency and transitional assistance, case management, rental and utility assistance, housing support, help obtaining VA benefits, and food and clothing.
