Helping Heroes Veterans Day 10K, Wheeling, WV
Helping Heroes organizes a point to point road 10 km race in Wheeling with rolling hills. The event is scheduled for November 21 and supports local veterans. The course begins in front of Bridge Street Middle, follows National Road through Elm Grove, Dimmydale and Woodsdale, climbs to the Mount Wood Overlook, then descends on Stone Boulevard into Chapline Street and finishes on 16th Street in front of Helping Heroes new headquarters at 44 16th Street.
Pre-race packet pickup is available Thursday November 19 and Friday November 20, 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, at Centre Wheeling Fellowship Church (41 22nd St; use the blue door on 22nd St). Packet pickup and day-of registration will occur at the Bridge Street Middle School parking lot starting at 7:30 am on race day. Buses will shuttle participants from downtown to the start, departing from 44 16th Street at approximately 7:30, 7:45, 8:00 and 8:15. Suggested parking areas include street parking around 14th Street, Northern Community College lots and the Wesbanco Arena Parking Garage. Participants may also park at Bridge Street Middle; no buses will run to Bridge Street after the event.
Entry fees are listed at $30 to $40. Awards include top three overall male and female runners, top three male and female walkers, top three in each age group for run and walk categories, a finisher challenge coin for all participants, and race shirts for the first 200 registrants.
