WGPAL Donut Dash 5K
The WGPAL Donut Dash 5K is an athletic event held in historic Downtown Winter Garden. The course leads participants through local neighborhoods and near the shores of Lake Apopka. This event supports the Winter Garden Police Athletic League, which funds programs such as an eight-week summer camp for at-risk youth and a holiday gift and meal voucher program for children in the community.
The event features a unique mechanic involving donut consumption during the race. Three designated donut zones are situated at the 1 mile, 2 mile, and 3 mile marks of the course. For every donut consumed entirely within these zones, participants receive a 30-second deduction from their final run time. Runners who consume 12 or more donuts receive an additional bonus of 1 minute per donut for every donut eaten beyond the initial 12.

A kids fun run takes place after the main race concludes. Each adult registration includes entry for one or more children to participate in the fun run at no additional cost. The event site includes live music and sponsor tents. A prize is awarded for the best donut-themed costume. All registered participants receive a race medal, and additional medals are provided to first and second place finishers in various age categories, as well as the top three overall male and female finishers.
