Event Overview
The WGPAL Donut Dash 5K is a running and walking event supporting the Winter Garden Police Athletic League. The event includes two participation options: an in-person 5K run/walk and a virtual 5K.
Course Details
The course takes place in historic Downtown Winter Garden and passes through neighborhoods and by Lake Apopka.
Donut Challenge Rules
Participants have the option to eat donuts during the run to reduce their official time. Three "donut zones" are located at the 1-mile, 2-mile, and 3-mile marks of the course. Each donut eaten within a zone deducts 30 seconds from the final time. Consuming 12 or more donuts provides an extra deduction of 1 minute per donut over 12. All donuts must be consumed within the designated zones.
Additional Activities
The event features live music and sponsor tents. A costume prize is awarded for the best donut-themed costume. After the main 5K event, there is a kids' fun run.
Registration and Logistics
Each paid adult entry includes a free entry for one child into the kids' fun run. Race day registration is available if the event is not sold out. Packet pickup is available the day before the race at the Winter Garden Police Department or on race morning at Newton Park (1 Surprise Drive, Winter Garden). Online registration closes the evening before the race.
Awards and Participation
All registered participants receive a race medal. Additional medals are awarded to first and second place finishers (male and female) in all age categories, as well as to the top three male and female overall finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
