About the race
The WGPAL Donut Dash 5K is a community 5K run/walk held in Downtown Winter Garden with a course that passes through historic neighborhoods and along Lake Apopka. The event includes both an in-person 5K and a virtual 5K option for remote participation.

- 3.1 Miles in-person run/walk
- 3.1 Miles virtual remote participation
The event features three on-course "donut zones" located at the 1 mile, 2 mile, and 3 mile marks. Each donut eaten in a donut zone reduces a participant's final time by 30 seconds. Participants who eat 12 or more donuts receive an additional time reduction of 1 minute for each donut eaten beyond 12. Virtual participants are not required to eat donuts while completing their 5K.
All registered participants receive a race medal. Additional medals are awarded to first and second place finishers in each age category and to first, second, and third place overall male and female finishers. Each adult registration includes one free child's entry into the kids fun-run; additional children may also participate at no additional cost.
The event supports the Winter Garden Police Athletic League, which runs an eight week summer camp for 70 children and a Holiday Gifts for Kids Program that provides gifts and meal vouchers to about 400 local children in need.
