WeSwimRun Liverpool
This is a swimrun knockout event held at Princes Dock in Liverpool Waters. Race headquarters is at Swim Liverpool. The format uses repeated laps; athletes may complete up to six laps and, if they reach the final lap, a total distance of 15 km.
Distances per lap:
- Male lap: 2.5 km (run 2.0 km; swim 500 m)
- Female lap: 2.25 km (run 1.75 km; swim 500 m)
Each lap is composed of run and swim sections: a 700 m run, a 200 m swim, a run of 900 m for men or 650 m for women, a 300 m swim, and a final 400 m run. The event uses a short chute on the second run for the female category to keep cut-off times consistent between categories.
Lap cut-off times are set as follows: Lap 1 26 minutes; Lap 2 24 minutes; Lap 3 22 minutes; Lap 4 20 minutes; Lap 5 18 minutes; Lap 6 is run as an all out race. Athletes who do not finish a lap within its cut-off will be stood down at the lap end; athletes finishing early may rest for the remaining lap time.
Transition points are from pontoons about 2 feet above the water with a water depth of about 2 m. Swim exits are via a concrete ramp that is steeper than a typical slipway and may be slippery when wet. The event is limited to 50 places. Water temperature is typically around 16 to 17 degrees Celsius. Basic kit guidance is provided; wetsuit use is optional and a pull buoy is recommended.
