Event Overview
The Weston Creek Half Marathon celebrates its 40th edition. The event is organized by the Weston Creek Athletics Club (Canberra Redbacks). It features two distances: a half marathon and a 10 km community fun run. A commemorative medal is minted for half marathon finishers.
Course and Location
The event starts and finishes at Black Mountain Peninsula on Garryowen Drive in Acton, Australian Capital Territory. Both courses are out-and-back routes utilizing bike paths with views of Lake Burley Griffin. The organizers note there are no road crossings.
Race Day Information
The half marathon starts first, followed by the 10 km run. The start and finish line is located at the main toilet block at the far end of Black Mountain Peninsula. A time cut-off of 3 hours and 30 minutes applies for completing the event. Hot cross buns, fruit, and drinks are provided in the presentation area near the finish. There are two water stations on the course.
Registration and Fees
Registration opens on October 1, 2025. Entry fees are tiered:
- Half Marathon: Early Bird ($60), Mid ($75), Late ($95).
- 10 km Fun Run: Early Bird ($30), Mid ($40), Late ($50).
- Half Marathon Relay: A flat team fee of $90 for teams of two or three.
Discounts of $10 are available for ACTMA members, Canberra Runners members, and Griffins running the half marathon during the Mid fee period. Previous outright half marathon winners are invited to participate for free.
Additional Details
Race bibs can be collected in advance at a shop in Phillip or on race morning at the start area. A formal presentation ceremony awards medals, gift vouchers, and prizes after the race. The event has a flexible policy for registered participants who suffer a training injury, offering options like distance transfer, deferral, or a partial refund if contacted before March 10, 2026.
