Westlake Veterans Club 1st Annual Run/Walk
The Westlake Veterans Club hosts This military-themed event at the Westlake Golf and Country Club in Jackson, New Jersey. The occasion commemorates the unity and sacrifice shown on D-Day. Participants move along flat roadways that surround the golf course, with both the starting and finishing points located at the clubhouse. The course features designated sections named after the five historical landing sites: Omaha, Utah, Gold, Juno, and Sword.
The event features two distinct distances:
- 5K
- 2K
The 5K race is sanctioned by the USATF. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as the top three in age groups ranging from under 15 to 90 and over. Specialized individual awards recognize the first finishers among firefighters, police, military or ROTC members, doctors, nurses, teachers, and Westlake residents. Team awards are also available for the Military and Open divisions, requiring a minimum of three members per team.
The 2K Fun Run/Walk is a non-competitive, recreational event without official awards. The day includes a military ceremony featuring a color guard, alongside music and refreshments. Proceeds from the event support philanthropic donations for veteran and community causes within the Greater Ocean County area.
