Westerwood 5K
The Westerwood 5K takes place on November 8, 2026 in the Westerwood neighborhood of Greensboro, North Carolina. The course begins and finishes at the Double Oaks house, a property listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and passes local landmarks including the mural of actress Madhubala, Guilford County’s oldest house, the Fairmont Street bridge, the Westerwood roundabout, and the Lake Daniel Greenway.
The event offers a standard 5K running race and two related entries labeled Chariot Runner and Chariot Rider; chariot racing is new for this year. Most 5K entries carry a registration fee of $30; the chariot rider entry is listed as free. Registration opens April 10, 2026, and primary registration for the 5K entries closes May 31, 2026, while chariot rider registration extends to race day.
Participant amenities noted by the organizer include a long sleeve t-shirt option for early registrants, a customizable bib for early registrants, on-course music, inspirational and humorous displays along the route, and water stops approximately at miles 1 and 2 plus at the finish. Post-race provisions include chili, bread, and a beer or other beverage. Awards will be given for overall, masters, and age group finishers, with separate recognition for top chariot racers. The event supports the local charities BackPack Beginnings and Greensboro Urban Ministry.
