The route is partly out-and-back with an additional one-way loop. Terrain includes ancient woodland, coastal sections, marshes, lanes, and moorland; the route passes Culbone, which contains the UK’s smallest parish church. There are six aid stations; this is a cupless race so runners should carry at least one 500 ml water bottle and a cup if needed. Aid stations provide water, coke, squash and a range of food items. Approximate distances to aid stations from the start are: CP1 Bossington - 8 miles; CP2 Porlock Weir - 11 miles; CP3 Webber’s Post - 22 miles; CP4 Webber’s Post - 28 miles; CP5 Porlock Weir - 39 miles; CP6 Bossington - 42 miles.

Course markings are provided where needed and the South-West Coast Path has its own signage. Organisers will supply a GPX file. Professional medical cover is provided; emergency procedures are outlined in the race information. Suggested personal kit includes a tested waterproof jacket, spare layer, headtorch with spare batteries, high-visibility clothing, whistle, compass, charged mobile phone, emergency food, foil survival blanket and basic first aid items.
