The Doone Run
The Doone Run is an annual trail race organised by Ilfracombe Running Club in the Doone Valley on Exmoor, with the 37th edition scheduled for Sunday 20 September 2026. The event follows the traditional route through the valley and is noted for frequent climbs, varied terrain and local wildlife along the course.
The distance is 16 km (10 miles). Entrants must be at least 16 years old. Participation is limited to a maximum of 250 runners. Entries open on 1 May and the standard entry fee is £20, with a £2 discount available for members of UK Athletics clubs.
Chip timing will be used for live results as runners cross the finish line. All finishers receive a commemorative medal. First male and female finishers have their names added to the event trophies and there are additional category prizes. For safety, there is a cut-off at the 5 mile marshal point by The Olde Cottage Inn: runners must reach that point within 1 hour 20 minutes or they will be withdrawn from the race.
The race operates with permissions from landowners and relevant organisations. Proceeds from the event will include a donation to charity. Sponsors support the organising club and the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
