The Doone Run
The Doone Run is a trail race organised by Ilfracombe Running Club in the Doone Valley on Exmoor, with the 37th edition scheduled for Sunday 20 September 2026 in Lynmouth. The event follows the traditional route through the valley and is described by the organiser as a course with repeated hills, scenic views and local wildlife such as goats.
The race distance is 16 km / 10 miles. Entrants must be at least 16 years old and the field is limited to a maximum of 200 participants. Entry is £20 with a £2 discount for members of UK Athletics clubs. Chip timing is new for this edition and live results will be available at the finish.
For safety, marshals may be on the course for many hours and in variable weather. There is a mandatory cut off at the 5 mile point by The Olde Cottage Inn; runners must reach that point within 1 hour 20 minutes or they will be withdrawn at that marshal location. Ilfracombe Running Club restarted the event four years ago and reports that this edition continues the established local tradition.
Proceeds from the Doone Run will include a donation to the charity Chemohero. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
