Milton-Union Red, White, and Run 5k
The Milton-Union Red, White, and Run 5k is presented by the Milton-Union Alliance and takes place on July 4, 2027 at the Lowry Sports Complex behind Milton-Union Schools in West Milton, Ohio. The advertised distance is an honest 3.1 miles.
The course winds through the woods and is primarily on road surface, but it includes over 0.5 mile of off road running across grass and groomed dirt areas that may contain roots or other debris. Footing is slightly inconsistent in those sections and jogging strollers are strongly discouraged; walkers with standard walking strollers must start at the back and runners with strollers must start on the edge or side of the pack.
The event is chip timed by Speedyfeet and participants are required to wear and keep their timing chip to appear in results. Course records were set in 2026 with male and female times of 16:17.2 and 19:37.9 respectively; a $50 bounty is offered for new course records.
Awards include top three overall male and female, course record bonuses, youngest and oldest racer, most patriotic, and age group awards for top two in multiple age brackets from 10 and under through 70 and over. A supervised post race water fight is part of the event with guidelines limiting participants to squirt guns. Packet pickup is available at Milton-Union Schools on July 3 and the morning of July 4 at 7610 Milton-Potsdam Road, West Milton, OH. Parking is available in the school parking lots.
