West Coast Half Marathon
The West Coast Half Marathon is a point to point road race that starts at Preston Docks and finishes at Fairhaven Lake in Lytham St Annes. The event base and meeting point is at Fairhaven Lake. A shuttle service runs from the finish area to the start; there is no return bus after the race.
The route follows the Guild Wheel out of Preston, then passes through Freckleton and Warton before reaching Lytham St Annes for the finish at Fairhaven Lake. The course is described as flat and is limited to 650 entrants. The event is in its seventh year. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and a tech T shirt. Chip timing is used and official results are published on the event website after the race.
Entry is online only, open to anyone aged over 17 on race day. Standard entry fees are listed with a reduced rate for UKA and ARC members; there may be limited on the day entries at an extra charge. Deferrals or transfers can be made at least seven days before the event; changes within seven days incur a fee and refunds are not issued.
On race day there is preattached chip timing on bibs, marshals and signposting on course, bottled water stations at approximately 3, 6 and 9 miles, toilets at the start, finish and at 6 and 9 miles, an unmanned baggage drop transported back to Lytham, a key lock box at the event support trailer, and medical cover from Remote Medical Services patrolling on response bikes and positioned at the finish. Prizes are awarded for top finishers and age category winners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
