West Akron African American Wellness 5K Race : 13th Annual
The 13th Annual West Akron African American Wellness 5K Race takes place on August 1, 2026, at 1040 Copley Road, Akron, OH 44320. The event includes both running and walking options.

The event is organized to unite the community around wellness and philanthropy and to raise funds that benefit students in the Buchtel Cluster. Funds are intended to supply local schools with resources they currently lack and to support children and families in Summit County and surrounding areas.
Health and education are focal points of the event. The race initiative aims to raise awareness of disparities related to diabetes, high blood pressure, and the risk of stroke among men. During the COVID-19 pandemic the event expanded to include education on COVID-19, testing, and partnerships to provide vaccines and boosters.
This edition lists several community partners and supporters, including United Baptist Church, The Akron NAACP, Summa Health, the Gus Johnson Community Foundation, CareSource, Akron Children’s Hospital, and Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home.
