About the race
Wellwood Walk/Run/Wheel is a community fundraising event for the Wellwood Cancer Resource Centre held at the McMaster University Student Centre in Hamilton, Ontario on October 18, 2026. Accessibility and rules are stated clearly: "Wheel" refers to mobility aids such as wheelchairs, scooters used for mobility assistance, walkers and strollers. Strollers are allowed and should line up near the rear of the starting area; bicycles, rollerblades and pets are not permitted on the course. There is one water station at the halfway point and additional water at the finish. Toilet facilities are available inside the Student Centre and on the lower level of Gilmour Hall; there are no washrooms on the race route.
Race kits, pledge drop-off and in-person registration are available on days before and at the event at Wellwood (501 Sanatorium Road) and at the McMaster Student Centre. Parking is free courtesy of McMaster but lots closest to the Student Centre fill quickly, which may require walking from more distant lots. The course closes after 90 minutes and marshals are positioned along the route. Music is provided at the finish line and the Hamilton All Star Jazz Band is noted as part of the event program.
