Boxing Day Run - Hamilton

The 2026 event is the 103rd running of the Boxing Day Run in Hamilton. The organizer describes the race as Canada’s second oldest road race. The start and finish are located together on Hughson Street, near King Street and a short walk from the downtown YMCA.

The course runs through downtown streets and along a paved waterfront trail, combining urban streetscapes with riverside sections. Two distance options are offered for runners and walkers:

4 mile run or walk

A fully indoor race hub is set up inside the YMCA Main Gymnasium for race operations. The indoor hub includes bib and race-wear pickup, post-race refreshments and awards, change rooms with showers, and a welcoming space for spectators and families.

The event also includes a charitable component: the 2024 race donated $5,000 to the YMCA Saves Lives Campaign to help local children and youth access YMCA programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
