Boxing Day Run - Hamilton
The Boxing Day Run - Hamilton is a historic athletic event held in Hamilton, Ontario. Marking its 103rd annual edition, this tradition is recognized as Canada's second oldest road race. The event utilizes a course that travels through downtown city streets and follows a paved waterfront trail.
The event offers two distinct distances for participants:
- 10-Mile run
- 4-Mile run or walk
The start and finish lines are located together at the intersection of King William and Hughson Street North. The primary race hub is hosted inside the YMCA Main Gymnasium, situated three blocks from the downtown area. This indoor facility provides a space for bib and race-wear pickup, as well as post-race refreshments and awards ceremonies.
Participants have access to on-site amenities including change rooms and showers. The event attracts a mix of elite and recreational runners and walkers. Historically, the race has contributed to community causes, such as the YMCA Saves Lives Campaign, which supports local children and youth programs.
