Boxing Day Run - Hamilton
The Boxing Day Run is presented as the 103rd annual running of the event in Hamilton. The event gathers runners and walkers from across Ontario and is described as Canada’s second oldest road race. It is held on Boxing Day and offers a winter road running course through the city.
Distances offered:
- 10 Mile run
- 4 Mile run or walk
The start and finish lines are located together at King William and Hughson Street North, about three short blocks from the downtown YMCA. The course runs through downtown streets and along a paved waterfront trail, combining urban streets and a riverside path.
Race day operations are based in an indoor race hub inside the YMCA Main Gymnasium. The indoor space is used for bib and race-wear pickup, post-race refreshments and awards, change rooms with showers, and a welcoming area for spectators and families.
The event has a history of community fundraising. The 2024 race donated $5,000 to the YMCA Saves Lives Campaign to support access for local children and youth to YMCA programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
