Event overview
The Boxing Day Runs in Hamilton, Ontario offer two distances:
- 10 miles
- 4 miles (run or walk)
The event in 2025 will be the 102nd running. The 2024 event donated $5,000 to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign; the run states it donates $5,000 annually to help local children access YMCA programs. The event is organized by volunteers from the Hamilton Harriers Running and Walking Club.
Course and logistics
The course starts next to the downtown YMCA (Hamilton Downtown Family YMCA, 79 James Street South) and follows out to the paved waterfront trail before returning to the YMCA. Approximately 5 miles of the route are on the waterfront trail. A large gymnasium at the YMCA is used for indoor bib and swag pickup, refreshments and awards; change rooms with showers are available and spectators are welcome in the gym. Mitts are included for entrants. Timing is provided by a local timing company and race wear is supplied by a Hamilton apparel company. Online registration closes on December 24 at 11:59 pm; race-day registration is available for a cash or cheque fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
