The Frostbite Solstice Trail Race 2026
The event takes place on December 19, 2026 at Marydale Park in Mount Hope, Ontario. The race is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario and benefits the charity Hamilton Out Of The Cold.
The course is an approximately 3.7 km trail loop combining tree-covered trails and open field, with a few short rolling hills and typical exposure to wind. The exact route will be finalized based on trail conditions and may use sections from the organizer's summer route when appropriate.
Race formats offered:
- Full Solstice duration 8 hours 58 minutes
- Full Solstice Relay duration 8 hours 58 minutes, teams up to five runners
- Half Solstice duration 4 hours 29 minutes
- Quarter Solstice duration 2 hours 15 minutes
Relay teams must have each runner complete the full loop and use a designated transition area. Only the top team in each category receives an award.
One aid station serves the course every few kilometres and offers water, an electrolyte drink, sweet and salty snacks, PB and J sandwiches, pickles and more. The event is cup less so participants must bring a collapsible cup or bottle. THN Labs supplies gels containing maple syrup, tahini, sea salt and rowanberry extract. La Sportiva will attend with a demo shoe fleet and two pairs of shoes will be given away at the event.
All participants receive a finisher medal and a crewneck sweatshirt. Site facilities include close parking, washrooms and a large pavilion for spectators. The organizer offers a 100% race credit for cancellations made at least 30 days before the race; cancellations within 30 days are not accommodated. Bib transfers to another participant are allowed without penalty and there is no waitlist. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
