The Frostbite Solstice Trail Race 2026
The event takes place at Marydale Park in Mount Hope, ON. The course is an approximately 3.7 km trail loop with a few short rolling hills, a mix of tree covered trails and open field, and frequent wind at the location. The exact route may change before race day to use trails in the best condition.
Available race formats:
- Full Solstice 8 hours 58 minutes
- Full Solstice Relay up to 5 runners per team
- Half Solstice 4 hours 29 minutes
- Quarter Solstice 2 hours 15 minutes
For relay teams, each runner must complete the full loop and all exchanges must occur in the designated transition area; teams cannot replace a member who leaves early. Teams may set up tents if weather allows and an indoor space will be available.
There is one aid station located on the loop, passed every few kilometres. The station provides water, an electrolyte drink, sweet and salty snacks, PB and J sandwiches, pickles and other typical ultra fare. The event is cup-less so participants must bring a collapsible cup or bottle. THN Labs supplies gels in race kits and at aid stations; ingredients listed include maple syrup, tahini, sea salt and rowanberry extract.
All participants receive a finisher's medal and a crewneck sweatshirt. The event is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario and supports the charity Hamilton Out Of The Cold. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
