The Frostbite Solstice Trail Race 2026
The Frostbite Solstice Trail Race takes place on December 19, 2026 at Marydale Park in Mount Hope, Ontario. The event is organized by Happy Trails Racing and is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario.
The course is an approximately 3.7 km trail loop made of tree covered trails and open field with a couple of short rolling hills. The exact course alignment will be chosen close to race day to use trails in the best condition and the most scenic options; some sections can become soggy depending on recent weather. Wind is typically a factor at this location.
Race formats and durations:
- Full Solstice: 8 hours 58 minutes
- Full Solstice Relay: 8 hours 58 minutes, teams up to 5 runners
- Half Solstice: 4 hours 29 minutes
- Quarter Solstice: 2 hours 15 minutes
The relay allows unlimited exchanges provided each runner completes the full loop and all transitions occur in the designated relay area. Only the top team in each category All Men, All Women, and Mixed Relay will receive an award. Each relay member receives a shirt and finishing medal.
Aid and support are provided from a single aid station passed each loop with water, electrolyte drink, gels, sweet and salty snacks, PB and J sandwiches, and pickles. Events are cup-less so runners must use a personal collapsible cup or bottle. Race kits include gels provided by THN Labs, a crewneck sweatshirt, and a finisher's medal. La Sportiva will have a demo fleet and will give away two pairs of shoes at events.
The charity beneficiary is Hamilton Out Of The Cold. Refund policy allows 100% race credit up to 30 days before the event, transfers are permitted without penalty, and there is no waitlist. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
