WAYS Race to Independence 5K
The WAYS Race to Independence 5K is a community 5K run/walk held on March 28, 2026 at Space Coast Field of Dreams Park in West Melbourne, Florida. The event benefits WAYS (Wraparound Youth Services) for Life, an organization that supports youth in Brevard County ages 15 to 25 who are aging out of foster care, experiencing homelessness, or are unaccompanied.
WAYS provides a range of services aimed at helping young people toward independence, including case management, mental health support, food services, identification services, legal assistance, career pathway guidance, secondary education support, life skills programming, and an on-site GED FastTrack program.
Logistics include early packet pickup and registration the day before at Running Zone (3696 N. Wickham Rd) and packet pickup and registration at the park on race day. The first 150 registrants receive a free race T-shirt. Entry fees listed are Adult $35 through March 27 with a higher race day fee, and Child (12 and under) $25 through March 27 with a higher race day fee.
Awards are planned for top finishers overall and by age group, including top masters (40 plus) and top teams. The event also features fundraising incentives with prizes such as four tickets to SeaWorld and four tickets to Aquatica for top fundraisers.
