Waterman's Triathlon Festival - Rock Hall, MD
Waterman's Triathlon Festival takes place in Rock Hall on Maryland's Eastern Shore and offers three race distances with separate aquabike options. The swim courses use Rock Hall Harbor; the center of the harbor is shallow (about 2-3 feet), the perimeter is used for racing, and a breakwater helps keep water calm. Swim finishes occur at A-Dock adjacent to the Waterman's Restaurant where athletes climb a ladder and run about 300 meters to transition.
Distances:
- Long Course (Half): 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run
- Olympic: 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run
- Sprint: 750 m swim, 15 mile bike, 5 km run
Bike courses run through Kent County farmland and are generally well paved; the Long Course is two loops totaling 56 miles, the Olympic covers roughly 21 miles, and the Sprint route is mostly flat with a few minor rollers. Run courses are described as pancake flat and loop through Rock Hall neighborhoods; aid stations appear approximately every mile to 1.5 miles on longer courses and serve water, sports drink, and snacks. Post-race food and beverages are provided at the finish area.
The event is USA Triathlon sanctioned. Categories include Overall, Age Group, Aquabike, Military, Clydesdale, Athena and Relay Teams. Registrations are non-refundable; deferrals and a 20% two-race discount for registering both days are available.
