About the race
Water For People Charlotte 5K is a community running event held at McAlpine Creek Park on the McAlpine Creek Cross Country Course. The course is mostly flat and partially shaded. The event offers on-course and virtual participation options and is linked with Water For People, a nonprofit that works in Latin America, East Africa, and India to improve access to reliable and safe water and sanitation services.
There are multiple divisions with the following distances:
- 5K timed division (timing chip required)
- 3.1 Miles non-timed division (no timing chip)
- 5K virtual division
Registration for all divisions opens on September 26, 2026 and closes on March 26, 2027. The registration fee listed for each division is $40. Virtual participants can submit results from April 24 until midnight and registered virtual entries include a T-shirt that will be shipped if the address is provided and registration is completed by Friday, April 4. The timed division requires a bib with an attached timing chip to capture and post results. The non-timed division does not require a timing chip and participants in that division will not be timed.
