Watauga Running Scared 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk
The event takes place on October 17, 2026, at Capp Smith Park Amphitheater in Watauga, Texas. It is hosted by the City of Watauga Parks & Community Services Department and follows a Halloween theme with costumes encouraged. The morning includes family activities, music, refreshments, and post event activities.

The 5K is professionally timed and includes overall, masters, and age-group awards presented three deep in each male and female division. The 1 mile event is untimed and noncompetitive. Route maps are listed as coming soon.
Registration has early and late pricing with deadlines for shirt guarantees and online registration. Early pricing runs through October 5; late pricing begins October 6 and race day registration is available. City of Watauga employees may register for the 5K at a reduced rate; verification may be required. Participants who register by the shirt deadline are guaranteed an event shirt; those who register later may receive a shirt while supplies last. Registration fees are nonrefundable.
Additional information includes race day packet pickup at Capp Smith Park Pavilion 1, a safety note to ensure costumes do not restrict vision or movement, allowance for strollers (to start near the back), and that dogs are permitted on leash.
