Warsaw Optimist Sprint Triathlon
The event is an annual sprint triathlon held at Winona Lake Park in Winona Lake, Indiana, on the last Saturday of June. It includes multiple competition options and USAT sanctioned race formats, with divisions for adults, relays, duathlon, aqua bike, physically challenged athletes, and youth waves. Registration accepts individuals and relay teams of two or three. Registration closes the last Wednesday before the race or when 500 spots are filled. Entries are nonrefundable, nontransferable, and nondeferrable.
The race uses chip timing; athletes must wear assigned timing chips and return them or pay a replacement fee. Bike helmets must be fastened while riding and athletes must supply their own bike water bottle. USAT referees enforce rules and may assess penalties. Youth finishers receive medals. Age groups for adult divisions follow USAT age determination based on age on December 31 of the previous year, with a minimum age requirement for adult divisions.
Packet pickup is available the evening before the race and on race morning at the Community Center in Winona Lake Park; athletes must present photo ID and USAT membership or one-day insurance at pickup. The swim takes place in a public natural lake; athletes swim prior to the event at their own risk and should be aware of natural hazards. Post-race awards are presented at the Community Center and unclaimed awards are held for 30 days. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
