Warsaw Optimist Sprint Triathlon
The Warsaw Optimist Sprint Triathlon is an annual multi-discipline event held at Winona Lake Park in Winona Lake, Indiana. The program includes adult sprint races, USAT-sanctioned duathlon and aquabike options, relay teams, and dedicated youth races with finisher medals for youth athletes. Divisions listed include Adult Age Group, Clydesdale, Athena, Adult Relay, Duathlon, Physically Challenged, and Youth categories.
Distances by division include:
- Adult Sprint: Swim 440 yards, Bike 14 miles, Run 3.1 miles.
- Duathlon (Adult): Run 1.46 miles, Bike 14 miles, Run 3.1 miles.
- Youth 11-12: Swim 110 yards, Bike 1.8 miles, Run 1.46 miles.
- Youth 13-14: Swim 110 yards, Bike 2.97 miles, Run 2.29 miles.
Key race procedures and services are specified. All athletes must wear an assigned timing chip; failure to return a chip incurs a $30 replacement fee. Bike helmets are mandatory and must be fastened while riding. Athletes must provide their own water bottle for the bike segment. The transition area is restricted to athletes; youth athletes may be accompanied by one parent or designee until transition closes. Packet pickup is available the Friday evening before the race and the morning of the race at the Community Center in Winona Lake Park. Registration fees include an event t-shirt, swim cap, chip timing, free parking, awards, and post-race refreshments. Registration closes the last Wednesday before the race at midnight or when 500 spots fill. No refunds, transfers, or deferrals are permitted.
