Warrington Way 40 mile trail ultramarathon 2026
The Warrington Way is a 40 mile circular multi‑terrain race in Cheshire that circumnavigates the town of Warrington. The route starts and finishes in the village of Lymm and is run anticlockwise around the town. Most of the route is off‑road on footpaths, field crossings, farm tracks and canal towpaths, with some road sections and major road crossings.
The route crosses local waterways and transport corridors, including the Bridgewater Canal, the Manchester Ship Canal, the St Helens Canal, the River Mersey, two mainline railways and several motorways. There are three staffed checkpoints at roughly 10, 20 and 30 miles; these provide drinks and food. Finishers receive a medal and are offered hot and cold drinks plus a hot meal. Event merchandise such as T shirts and hoodies is available to buy on race day from 12:00 subject to availability and cannot be preordered.
Entry is available for solo runners, pairs and four person relay teams, with rules and route maps published by the organiser. The organiser’s refund and transfer policy allows cancellations with a refund less a 10% administration fee up to six weeks before the event and free transfers or team changes up to one week before the event.
