Warrington Way 40 mile trail ultramarathon 2026
The Warrington Way is a 40 mile circular multi terrain race in Cheshire that circumnavigates the town of Warrington. The route starts and finishes in the village of Lymm and runs anticlockwise around the town.
Most of the route is off road on footpaths, field crossings, farm tracks and canal towpaths, though there are some road sections and several major road crossings. The route crosses the Bridgewater Canal, the Manchester Ship Canal, the St Helens Canal and the River Mersey, and it passes rail corridors and the M6, M62 and M56 motorways.
Entry is offered in different formats:
- 40 miles solo entry
- 20 miles each for pairs
- 10 mile stages for four person relay teams
There are three checkpoints at approximately 10 miles, 20 miles and 30 miles where drinks and food are provided. Finishers receive a medal and the finish area provides hot and cold drinks and a hot meal. T shirts and hoodies are available to purchase on the day from 12 noon subject to availability and cannot be ordered in advance.
Entries are restricted to those aged 20 and over and entries close on Sun 08 Nov 2026. The event currently operates a waiting list. Cancellations are refundable minus a 10% administration fee up to six weeks before the event, and transfers or team changes are allowed up to one week before the event.
