Walter Raleigh Round Half/Third Marathon
The Walter Raleigh Round is a countryside trail event held on 9 January 2027 with start and finish at Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club. The route visits the birthplace of Sir Walter Raleigh and passes through quiet back lanes, unsurfaced county roads, little known footpaths, the Otter valley, High Peak, the Jurassic Coast and a dismantled railway. The half marathon covers 13.6 miles while the third marathon follows the same course to the river Otter then avoids the biggest hill and the coastal section, rejoining at the second river crossing.

The event offers a fully marked course with marshalls in key locations, a well stocked aid station and first aid cover. Finishers receive a solid oak coaster. The terrain includes mud and several hills; a five hour maximum time applies and the event is open to runners and walkers. Event base facilities at Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club include car parking, hot showers, a bar and a cafe.
