Event Overview
The Walnut Run/Walk for ALS is a fundraising event held on July 4, 2026, in Walnut, Illinois. All proceeds from the event are donated to ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) research.
Event Details
The event includes a single distance race: a 5K (3.1 miles). The course is described as accurately measured. Race features include chip timing, mile marker clocks, an aid station, traffic control, refreshments, and t-shirts. Walkers are explicitly welcome and encouraged to participate.
The event also features a wheelchair division. A "T-Shirt Only" option is available for non-participants.
The event starts in front of the Bureau Valley Elementary Walnut Campus on South Main Street. Check-in and race day registration are located at a park tent south of the school.
Awards and Results
Awards include trophies for the top three male and female finishers overall, trophies for the first male and female Walnut finishers, and cash prizes for the first and second place male and female finishers. Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in numerous age groups.
Timing and results are provided by Racing Expectations. Results are posted online after the race. An awards ceremony follows the event.
Logistics
The entry fee is $20, which includes a guaranteed t-shirt if registration is received by a specified date in June. On-site restroom and shower facilities are available. The event does not allow pets or bicycles. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
