The Princeton Mile
The Princeton Mile is a road race held on the historic Main Street of Princeton, Illinois. The event features a certified straight-line course (IL26001NM) on fully paved city streets. The route begins at the Apollo Theater and concludes at Rotary Park. All participants are chip timed and receive a race t-shirt and a race bib.
The event consists of two main categories:
- 1 Mile Run - Elite Division
- 1 Mile Run - Open Division
The Elite Division is reserved for runners meeting specific time standards. To qualify for this heat, male runners must be able to complete a mile in under 5 minutes, and female runners must be under 6 minutes. There are cash prizes of $1000 for the first male and female finishers in this division. The Open Division is available for all other participants.
Additional participant services include complimentary assisted stretching and body scans provided by local fitness partners. All runners receive a complimentary donut upon crossing the finish line. Awards are presented in several age categories, ranging from 15-19 up to 60 and over.
The finish line at Rotary Park is located adjacent to the Princeton Amtrak station, providing accessibility for those traveling by train from Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
