The Princeton Mile
The Princeton Mile is a road race held in Princeton, Illinois on June 6, 2026. The course runs along Main Street, beginning at the Apollo Theater and finishing at Rotary Park. The straight line, fully paved city street is a certified course with chip timing.
Two one mile events are offered: an Elite Division with qualifying standards and an Open Division for any pace runner or walker. Elite qualifying times are sub 4:30 for men and sub 5:30 for women. The elite prize structure awards $1,000 to the first male and first female finisher, $750 to each second place finisher, and $500 to each third place finisher. The registration fee for listed events is $35.00.
All paid entrants receive a race bib with timing chip, a Princeton Mile T shirt, a Princeton Mile logo drawstring bag, and a custom Princeton Mile pin. Awards will be announced on the Shrimpfest stage after the completion of the second race. Event day services include complimentary assisted stretching and body scans from Anytime Fitness of Princeton and complimentary donuts from Miss Betsy s.
The race takes place alongside the Rotary Club of Princeton s 5th Annual Shrimpfest, which features live music, food, activities for children, and Main Street sidewalk sales. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
