Wallowa Skyrace : Joseph, Oregon (June 26, 2026)
The Wallowa Skyrace is a mountain running event organized by Runners of the Sage and held at the Wallowa Lake Tramway in Joseph, Oregon. This is the third edition of the race. The Mountain Runners operate under a special use permit from the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest.
The course climbs 3,700 feet over 4.2 miles from Wallowa Lake to the summit of Mt Howard. After the ascent, participants descend via the tram at Wallowa Lake Tramway, with the tram ride included in registration. The route offers views of the Eagle Cap Wilderness.
Registration follows tiered pricing: $90 for early bird entries through December 31, 2025; $100 through April 30, 2026; and $110 until registration closes on June 18, 2026. Registration fees include the tram descent, a finisher medal, and end-of-race refreshments. Race shirts are available for an additional $30.
Packet pickup occurs at the start area at Wallowa Lake Tramway on race day. Every participant receives a finisher medal; awards are given to the top three overall male and top three overall female finishers. A $200 cash prize is offered to a male or female participant who breaks the current course record. Current course records are 1:02:25 for males (2024) and 1:11:54 for females (2025).
