Event information
The Hurricane Creek race is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026, in Joseph, Oregon at Joseph City Park. Distances offered include:
- Half Marathon
- 5 Mile
- 5K
- 1 Mile Kids Run (free for ages 12 and under)
Early bird registration prices end December 31. Half Marathon early price is $65 with a shirt included for pre-registration; half marathon registration rises to $75 (regular) and then to $85 before online registration closes on May 14. The 5 Mile and 5K have tiered prices with lower early rates and higher fees closer to the event; shirts are not included with early 5 Mile and 5K registration. Online registration closes Thursday, May 14. Packet pickup is available the day before at Quickhatch Provisions and on race day at Joseph City Park.
Course, awards and other details
The Half Marathon is an out-and-back course that begins near 4,200 ft elevation and climbs to about 5,100 ft. The route includes paved sections and maintained dirt road: the first 3 miles paved, the next 6 miles dirt road, and the final 3 miles paved. Aid/water stations are located near mile 3, mile 6.5 at Hurricane Creek Trailhead, and near mile 10. The 5 Mile and 5K follow the first segments of the half marathon course and use out-and-back layouts with a water station at each turnaround.
Awards are given to the top three male and top three female overall finishers in the Half, 5 Mile, and 5K. Each Half Marathon finisher receives a finisher medal. The event supports Runners of the Sage and helps raise funds for the Wallowa Land Trust. Weather can be variable in May; participants are advised to prepare for rain, sun, wind, or snow.
