Walking With the Dead 5K and 1 Mile
Walking With the Dead is the 7th annual event on October 2, 2026 at Green Lawn Cemetery, 1000 Greenlawn Ave, Columbus, Ohio. The event is organized on behalf of the Columbus Rotary Foundation and the Green Lawn Cemetery Association and is sponsored by Green Lawn Cemetery and Jones Lumber.

The program includes a beer garden where racers age 21 and over receive a drink ticket, costume prizes, and ghost tours. The scenic course passes many monuments and recognizes final resting places of notable Central Ohioans, including governors, mayors, artists, musicians, a World War I flying ace, and Civil War generals and veterans. The event is presented as family-friendly and notes features such as historic monuments and scenic paths.
Registration details and fees: registration for the 5K and the 1 mile opens July 28, 2026 and closes September 7, 2026; the registration fees are $40.00 for the 5K and $35.00 for the 1 mile. A separate Run Club sign-up option opens July 30, 2026 and closes October 2, 2026 with a $10.00 fee; that option includes a medal and race entry but no shirt or drink ticket.
