Walking with the Dead 5K and 1 Mile Walk
Walking with the Dead is an annual themed running and walking event held at Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio. The 2026 edition is the seventh annual event and takes place on October 2, 2026. The event offers two course options:
- 5K
- 1 mile
The event includes a beer garden, costume prizes, and ghost tours. The course follows scenic cemetery paths and passes monuments and historic gravesites. Green Lawn Cemetery is the final resting place of several Ohio governors, Columbus mayors, artists and musicians, a World War I flying ace, and multiple Civil War generals and veterans; the route passes many of these monuments.
The 5K and 1 mile run or walk is organized on behalf of the Columbus Rotary Foundation and the Green Lawn Cemetery Association and supports the care and maintenance of Green Lawn Cemetery. The event is sponsored by Green Lawn Cemetery and Jones Lumber. Registration fees are listed in the range of 35 to 50 USD. Race registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable.
