Event Overview
The Walk Us Home Run/Walk for Foster Homes is a community event organized by the Nevada Division of Child & Family Services, Carson City CASA, and the RennerVation Foundation. This is its fourth annual edition. The event is not timed, with its focus being on raising awareness and support for foster children.
Distances
The event features three distances, each with age categories for adults, teens, and kids:
- 8 km Run
- 5 km Run/Walk
- 3 km Run/Walk
Teams require a minimum of three members and can be of any age, gender, or event. Children under 10 can participate for free with adult registration and supervision.
Event Details
The run/walk begins at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City and tours through the West Carson City residential neighborhood. The event day includes a Family Fair that begins concurrently with the run/walk. A water station will be provided on the course.
Registration includes a race t-shirt and a finisher bag. T-shirts are available in adult or youth unisex sizes but are not guaranteed for participants who register during race week.
Themed Categories and Proceeds
This year's theme is "Hats On, Hearts Open." Participants are encouraged to wear fun hats. Prizes will be awarded in categories such as Funniest Hat, Most Creative Hat, Best Matching Hats, Most Spirited Individual, and Most Spirited Team.
All proceeds from the event will go towards the 2026 Camp RennerVation, a summer camp in Lake Tahoe for Nevada foster youth. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
