Walk, Run, Read for Literacy in Coeur d'Alene
This is the 5th annual Walk, Run, Read for Literacy supporting The Literacy Project of North Idaho, a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The event is centered in Coeur d'Alene City Park / Fort Sherman Park and directs 100 percent of race proceeds to learners and local literacy programs.
Event offerings include:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Kids Dash (roughly 0.5 miles)
- Virtual 5K
The 5K follows a paved out-and-back route that begins in City Park and uses the Idaho Centennial Trail toward Post Falls, with a turnaround located just before the Highway 95 bridge. Water stations are provided along the 5K route. The Kids Dash takes place on a short loop within the park. The virtual option allows participation from any location and includes an event shirt.
Additional activities at the gathering include an annual book sale, games and other family activities. Prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in the 5K and all Kids Dash participants receive medals. Free registration options exist for children 6 and under, and volunteer roles are available for event setup, aid stations, the book sale and other event tasks.
