Walk, Run, Read for Literacy : Coeur d'Alene City Park
Walk, Run, Read is a community event supporting The Literacy Project of North Idaho. The event raises funds for adult literacy and English language programs; the organizer states that 100% of race proceeds support learners and literacy programs. It takes place at Coeur d'Alene City Park / Fort Sherman Park on September 19, 2026.
Distances and options:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Kids Dash (roughly 0.5 miles)
- Virtual 5K
The 5K follows an out-and-back route along the Idaho Centennial Trail from the park toward Post Falls, with a turnaround before the Highway 95 bridge. The course is paved, has water stations, and allows strollers and wheelchairs; pets are not permitted on the course. The Kids Dash is held on a loop within the park along the park path. Children 6 and under may participate for free through the specified registration option.
Additional event elements include an annual book swap and sale, games and activities, and awards: prizes for the top three 5K finishers and medals for all Kids Dash participants. There are volunteer roles for setup, aid stations, the book sale, and general event support. A paid supporter option includes an event shirt and supports the literacy cause.
