Walk, Run, Read for Literacy : Sept 19, 2026
This community event in Coeur d'Alene City Park supports The Literacy Project of North Idaho, a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3). One hundred percent of race proceeds go to the organization's learners and literacy programs. The event combines timed and untimed participation options with community activities and a book sale.
Distances:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Kids Dash roughly 0.5 mile loop in the park
- Virtual 5K option available
The paved 5K route begins in City Park and follows the Idaho Centennial Trail toward Highway 95, with a turnaround near the bridge. Water stations are provided. Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome on the paved course; pets are not allowed on the course.
The Kids Dash takes place on a loop course within the park; all Kids Dash participants receive medals. Children under six may participate in any event without registration fee. A virtual participation option includes event apparel for remote participants. Additional event roles include volunteer opportunities and a shirt-only supporter option for those who do not walk or run.
Prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in the 5K. The event also features an annual book sale and family-focused activities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
