Event details
Walk in the Park is a trail running event on September 6, 2026, held in Kenna Cartwright Park in Kamloops, BC. The event offers multiple distances:
- 50K
- 25K
- 14K
The event was founded in 1992 and is described as one of British Columbia’s longest-running ultra trail races. Registration opens on December 1, 2025.
Course, entry and policies
The course uses rolling single-track and double-track trails through sagebrush and forest. Some sections are steep and there is minimal shade. The course records about 860 m of elevation gain per lap. Organizers note warm September weather and provide updated course maps via the event organizer.
The event policy states no refunds after registration. Deferrals may be considered for special circumstances at the race director’s discretion, up to two months before race day. Once a distance is sold out, no additional spots will be added. Bibs are non-transferable. Runners may drop down in distance at no cost until registration closes; moving up in distance after registration is not permitted. If the event is canceled for reasons such as weather or fires, participants may choose either a one-year deferral to the next event or a 50% refund. Volunteer roles include course marking, aid stations, sweeps, and start/finish support; registered volunteers receive a free post-race BBQ and entry into door prize draws.
