Walk in the Park : Kenna Cartwright Park, Kamloops, BC
Walk in the Park is an annual trail event held in Kenna Cartwright Park in Kamloops, British Columbia. Founded in 1992, the event offers multiple trail distances and has a long history of continuous races in the region.
Course direction alternates by year: even years run clockwise and odd years run counterclockwise. Surface types include primarily single track on compact dirt with some loose rock sections, wider double track segments, and short stretches of gravel access roads. Routes feature panoramic viewpoints, exposed grass and sagebrush areas, and occasional tree cover.
Distances offered
- 50 km two loops of the 25 km course, total vertical gain 1320 m
- 25 km course measures 25.5 km with 660 m vertical gain
- 14 km course measures 14.3 km with 372 m vertical gain
- 8 km new in 2026, more information forthcoming
Designated routes are marked with pin flags at roughly 75 to 150 m intervals and with flour at key intersections. Three aid stations are located on course with water, Coke, Hammer Nutrition Heed, basic foods such as chips, potatoes, gummies, cookies, fruit and a small selection of gels. Outhouses are available near each aid station. The event is cupless so participants should carry a bottle or reusable cup.
