Walk In Our Boots 5k
The event is a 5K walk/run organized by the Gahanna American Legion Post 797. It takes place on May 2, 2026, at Gahanna Veterans Memorial Park at Creekside, 73 W Johnstown Rd, Gahanna, Ohio. The event was first established in 2023 with the inaugural edition held at the same park.
The event is a fundraiser to support local veterans who were once homeless, helping them regain personal sustainability, re-establish a home and household, and re-enter the workforce. The American Legion frames the effort as community support for veterans facing obstacles before, during and after living on the streets in Central Ohio.
There are two participant categories for the 5K: adults (13 and over) and children (12 and under). Adult registration carries a fee of $25.00 and the kids category is free. Registration opens January 14, 2026 and closes April 29, 2026. The first 250 registrants receive a special T-shirt that includes an American 250 logo for the nation’s 250th birthday.
Participants may join an existing team or create a new team. Trophies are planned for the largest community team, the largest business team, and the largest first responder team. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
