About the race
Adventure Triathlon Wales 2026 is a two day event based in the Brecon Beacons with activities around Pen y Fan and Pontsticill Reservoir. The event runs from 11 to 13 September 2026, is limited to 30 participants, and requires an entry fee of £475 with a £100 deposit. Participants have a minimum fundraising requirement of £500. The event is held in memory of Paul Russell and 100% of sponsor funds go to Tŷ Hafan, three mental health community groups and a special needs school.
The main timed day includes:
- 2 mile seated SUP around Pontsticill Reservoir
- 47 mile bike ride through Brecon Beacons countryside
- 13 mile Pen y Fan run/hike finishing back at the lodge
Day two features gorge walking with river jumps and waterfall scrambles, a Penderyn distillery tour with a sample, caving through geological sites, and a 100 metre zip wire reached by a 20 metre tree climb.
Accommodation and logistics are included: two nights in a shared lodge (four per room), weekend meals, GPS tracking, event clothing (sponsored tri suits are mandatory and an event T shirt is provided), photography, video, insurance, race medal and finisher goodie pack. Participants enter as solo competitors and times are recorded individually. Entrants must bring their own bike, helmet and basic personal kit. Once full payment is made no refunds are issued unless a replacement participant is found. Balance is due by 6 April 2026 and check in takes place at Parkwood Outdoors Dolygaer, Merthyr Tydfil.
